Horses arrived before colonists

New research demonstrates that many Native Americans obtained horses well before the had contact with European explorers and colonists.


This photo shows Ute Indians on horseback in Southern Colorado in the late 19th century. But they may have first acquired horses as much as 300 years earlier.
