Mesa County Commissioner Thomas Dwyer of Collbran

got in trouble in the early years of the 20th century for ignoring county rules, state law and a grand jury demand when he was trying to get a new road built through Plateau Canyon. The photo at the right shows the road today. But despite two grand jury indictments and a civil lawsuit, he was able to withstand most of the trouble. My Daily Sentinel column is linked below.
