Military attack set Espinosa brothers on a violent path

The Espinsoa brothers of Colorado's San Luis Valley

were called the "Bloody Espinosas" after they went on a killing spree in 1863, but the killing didn't start until after U.S. Army forces tried to arrest them for theft, then burned their home and stole all their personal goods and livestock when the arrests proved unsuccessful. This photo is of an adobe ruin near the community where they lived. My column is linked below.
