Romance in the Rockies

Englishwoman Isabella Bird was already in her 40s when she visited Colorado and began a friendship -- some say romance -- with a one-eyed trapper called Rocky Mountain Jim.

They met near Estes Park, Colorado, in September, 1873, and became close companions for nearly three months, before Isabella returned to England.
