Streetcars needed horsepower

Grand Junction's first streetcars, like those in most cities, were pulled by horses up and down railroad tracks. But horse-drawn streetcars operated for only a dozen years in Grand Junction before they were phased out. It would require most of another decade before the switch to electric streetcars was completed.
