Historic Ute Trail was used for eons

From Manitou Springs, on Colorado's Front Range, a long-used Native trail headed westward to South Park, and connected to other trails heading to the San Luis Valley and through the mountains to the West.

The Utes in this photo took part in a 1912 ceremony in Manitou Springs to dedicate the trail. On Oct. 9 of this year, there was another ceremony with members of three Ute tribes to rededicate the trail and bless the hot springs in Manitou.

My history column about the trail and the ceremonies is below.
